Topic: Purpose Requires Courage: What is the status of your courage?

*Scripture: Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

What is courage? Do you have the courage to act?

Courage is STRENGTH!

Courage is the mental, emotional, or moral strength to venture or embark, to actually do something, to persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

It is not the absence of fear, but the ability to act in its presence, often defined as doing something difficult in the face of risks. It involves taking calculated, voluntary risks to achieve a worthy goal.

[1] This demands mental strength and this is everything to do with the mind.

(the mind deals with different functions such as the = cognitive or thinking & processing of information.

(the mind also deals with the = psychological, it dictates behavior and wellbeing)

(and emotional strength (the heart, the seat of emotion). This is your feelings -positive or negative- fear, joy, etc.

Courage requires moral strength to go against the norms and do what is right. It requires spiritual strength (the soul).

Courage depends on you taking a wholistic approach. All your systems are involved. The spiritual (soul), emotional (heart), mental (mind) physical (body)

*Devotional Thought:

Purpose will stretch you. It will lead you out of your comfort zones and into the unknown, the courage zones. This kind of courage takes great faith in God.

*Declaration: “I walk boldly into my purpose.”

*Prayer Point:

Lord, give me courage to do the things I have been afraid to do because fear is not from You.

*Reflection Question:

What step of obedience have I delayed out of fear?
